Motifs
The portrait of the scientist Hans Christian Ørsted is reproduced from a drawing by J.V. Gertner. On the right-hand side of the banknote is a compass from the early 18th century, as well as en electrical wire. The motif refers to H.C. Ørsted's demonstration of electromagnetism. This is not the first time H.C. Ørsted's portrait appears on a Danish banknote. The first instance was the 500-krone banknote issued in 1875.
The motif on the reverse is Kronborg Castle, drawn by the illustrator and architect Ib Andersen (1907-1969).
