The ordinary Coin Set includes the six coins in circulation. The coins are minted with several strokes and are thus much more clearly embossed than the ordinary coins in circulation. The Coin Set is minted in a limited edition.
 
The medal – Royal monogram
This set includes the medal in Nordic gold. The obverse of the medal shows The Royal Danish Mint’s mark, a heart, under a crown, while the reverse shows royal monograms as a novelty.
A monogram consists of initials referring to the first letters of a person's or a couple's first and last names. The elegantly interwoven and often mirrored initials first appeared in the late 17th century. Originally the were used only by the upper classes – royalty and nobility – but later, towards the end of the 19th century, monograms came into more widespread use.
This year's medal shows a reproduction of the monogram used on coins in the reign of King Frederik IX (1947-72).
Proof Coin Set
The proof version also includes the six coins in circulation struck in 2011 and the same medal as in the ordinary Coin Set, but minted in fine silver. Read more about the proof version here.

The new Coin Set is on sale from 31 October 2011 on the Royal Danish Mint's website. The recommended retail price is DKK 200 for the ordinary version and DKK 875 for the proof version. Some banks and coin dealers also accept orders.
Coins in circulation for 2011
Only 2-krone, 10-krone and 20-krone coins are produced in 2011 for general circulation.
Many collectors have informed us that it can be very difficult to get hold of this year’s circulating coins. As requested by the collectors, we therefore offer a small bag containing 1 2-krone, 1 10-krone and 1 20-krone coin for circulation struck in 2011. These bags are only available via the website, at a price of DKK 50 including VAT. |
