Emma Mærsk

Emma Mærsk is the motif on the ninth coin in the ship series.

18 March 2011, Danmarks Nationalbank issued a new 20-krone coin with the container vessel Emma Mærsk as its motif. The Emma Mærsk coin is issued in an edition of 0.8 million. It is of the same size and alloy as the ordinary 20-krone coin in circulation. The obverse of the coin shows a profile of the Danish Queen.

When she was launched in 2006, Emma Mærsk was the largest and longest container vessel ever built. Emma Mærsk maintains a regular service between the Far East and Europe through the Suez Canal.

The artist behind the coin is the sculptor Torben Ebbesen. He was also the artist behind the ship coin with M/S Selandia and the H.C. Andersen Nightingale fairy tale coin.

Proof version
In addition, a very limited number of collector's coins, only 3,810 were minted in the very fine proof quality. The proof version was on sale in the period from 18 to 23 March 2011.
