Danish securities issued abroad (VPU)

Residents who issue securities abroad must report such issues to Danmarks Nationalbank for the VPU statistics.

Background to statistics
VPU statistics are an important supplement to Danmarks Nationalbank's information on securities registered electronically at VP Securities Services.

The purpose of Danmarks Nationalbank's compilation of VPU statistics and information from VP Securities Services is to improve Danish securities statistics, and also to contribute to a pan-European, centralised securities database (CSDB) at the European Central Bank (ECB).

The need to compile this information is based among other things on increased international portfolio movements which are increasingly difficult to register. In addition, there is a fundamental need for uniform registration of securities holdings in order to compile movements in these holdings.
