Exchange of coins

As of 1 January 2011 Danmarks Nationalbank can refuse to exchange coins, which are materially damaged or worn, or coins which have been altered either deliberately or by a process that could be reasonably expected to have the effect of altering them. On this basis, such coins will not be exchanged as of 1 January 2011.

Coins that are not materially damaged or worn or coins which have not been altered or exposed to a process as described above, can still be exhanged/reimbursed.
In this case, banks and enterprises/persons acting in a commercial capacity or receiving coins from the general public are charged an administrative fee. The fees are described in the price schedule "Fees for exchange of old and new coins", see link in the column to the right.
