Reporting regulations and STINA

Danmarks Nationalbank has the objective to compile, process and publish relevant statistics of high quality that comply with international standards.

Danmarks Nationalbank strives constantly to prepare its statistics as effectively as possible, in order to minimise the cost to society.

1. Reporting regulations
Danmarks Nationalbank has prepared reporting regulations for all statistics in order to ensure uniform reporting and thereby statistics of the highest possible quality.

The reporting regulations are revised as required. The respondents (statistics reporters) and relevant professional organisations are involved in this work in order to ensure a common understanding of the data to be reported.

Danmarks Nationalbank aims to compile the information required from respondents into a small number of integrated reports. It is also important to ensure that the data received can be applied in various contexts on the basis of the same definitions. An example is the external accounts reported by MFIs (Monetary Financial Institutions), which are included in the statistics for both the MFI sector's balance sheet and Denmark's external debt.

2. STINA (electronic reporting)
Danmarks Nationalbank regularly compiles statistical information from a large number of private companies and public institutions. To facilitate the companies' reporting task, Danmarks Nationalbank has developed a new electronic reporting system, STINA, that offers the following advantages:

  • is based on widely used IT standards and has a simple user interface. The requirements as to the IT systems, etc. of the enterprises are limited, and no special IT skills are required for completing and submitting the reports.
  • includes a number of rules and controls, making it easier to complete and submit the reports. The time to be spent on reporting data is thus minimised.
  • offers several electronic reporting options and enables full or partial automation of the reporting process. This gives the enterprises a choice and saves them having to enter data manually.
