All coins issued after the introduction of the krone as Denmark's currency in 1875 can be exchanged at face value at Danmarks Nationalbank, if the denomination is still in circulation.
1-, 2-, 5- and 10-øre coins cannot be exchanged, as these denominations are no longer legal tender. From 1 October 2008, the 25-øre coin was no longer legal tender. Until 1 October 2011 exchange of the coin was possible in banks, savings banks and in Danmarks Nationalbank.
In the years 1924-40, a ½-krone coin was minted. This coin was withdrawn as legal tender by the end of 1942. Consequently, it cannot be redeemed. |
