The 1st half of 2016 saw a continuation of the economic progress that has characterised Denmark since 2013. Danmarks Nationalbank expects the gross domestic product (GDP) to grow by 0.9 per cent this year, rising to 1.5 and 1.8 per cent, respectively, in the next two years.

News from Danmarks Nationalbank: No house price bubble at the national level, but it's getting close in Copenhagen; Labour reserves among unemployed have been depleted.

In August 2016, the foreign-exchange reserve decreased by kr. 0.1 billion to kr. 449.8 billion.

"It's commendable that the government and the Folketing (Parliament) plan to strengthen the Danish economy, even when there is no crisis. Structural initiatives often work best for a growing economy. If that entails a larger supply of labour and higher productivity, the improvement in the Danish economy will last longer and be stronger", says Governor Lars Rohde.
