The building in Havnegade was designed by the Danish architect Arne Jacobsen and constructed in the period 1965-78. In 2009 the Heritage Agency of Denmark (now the Danish Agency for Culture) decided to list the building because of its architectural and cultural historical values. The renovation will respect these values.
It is a large-scale renovation, which is deemed necessary by experts and which must consider the fact that the building is listed. Among other things, marble and glass facades are to be replaced.
