On Saturday, Governor Lars Rohde signed a bilateral loan agreement between Danmarks Nationalbank and the IMF amounting to euro 5.3 billion (kr. 39.5 billion). The signing took place at a joint ceremony with a number of other bilateral borrowers during the IMF Annual Meeting in Washington D.C.
The borrowing agreement replaces the previous agreement between Danmarks Nationalbank and the IMF from 2012 and renews a Danish commitment of euro 5.3 billion. Denmark is among the first countries to sign new borrowing agreements with the IMF. The purpose of the bilateral loans is to support the IMF in promoting global economic and financial stability.
