Reasons for the Upswing in 1993-94, How Significant Was Fiscal Policy?
The background to the upswing in the Danish economy in 1993-94 was an expansion of fiscal policy as well as a considerable drop in interest rates that e.g. triggered an extensive wave of mortgage-credit conversions. Model calculations indicate that the onset of the boom was just as much attributable to the significant fall in interest rates as the expansionary fiscal policy.
