The statistics present information on interest rates of banks and mortgage banks to loans and deposits vis-à-vis households and non-financial corporations. The statistics include interest rates on existing loans and deposits (outstanding amounts) as well as new lending and new deposits agreements made in a given month (new business).
The principles governing the content and structure of the statistics are laid down in the European Central Bank's regulation no. 290/2009 concerning the changes to regulation no. 63/2002 (ECB/2001/18) concerning statistics on interest rates applied by monetary financial institutions to deposits and loans vis-à-vis households and non-financial corporations.
When compiling the statistics on interest rates of banks and mortgage banks information is gathered on interest rates applied by banks on outstanding loans and deposits vis-à-vis financial corporations, general government and all sectors combined.
