The capital account is called the international investment position when Denmark’s financial assets abroad exceed foreign-owned financial assets in Denmark. Conversely, the capital account is called the foreign debt when foreign-owned financial assets in Denmark exceed Denmark’s financial assets abroad.

The statistics contain detailed information on the international investment position (capital account) by country, sector, assets and liabilities as well as by type of investment such as direct investments in equity and portfolio investments in securities.

The international investment position is calculated in accordance with the guidelines in the Balance of Payments Manual of the International Monetary Fund, IMF.
