Banking and mortgage lending

Monthly statements of assets and liabilities of Danish banks and mortgage credit institutions as well as quarterly data from Danmarks Nationalbank’s lending survey.

The banking and mortgage lending statistics are monthly statements of assets and liabilities of Danish banks and mortgage credit institutions. In addition, you can also find quarterly data from Danmarks Nationalbank’s lending survey here.

The statistics contain information on the stocks and transactions of banks and mortgage credit institutions for primarily loans and deposits. In addition, interest rates and administration rates are calculated – both for all loans and for new loans.

Detailed information is available about, for example, sector, type of loans and deposits, currency and instalments for Danish and foreign customers. The statistics are thus an important source for insights on subjects like credit growth, developments in lending and deposit rates, Danes’ deposits and information on Danish homeowners’ mortgage debt which is key to their financial robustness.

Danmarks Nationalbank’s lending survey is a qualitative assessment of the development in Denmark’s largest banks’ and mortgage credit institutions’ credit policies for corporate and household customers. Among other things, the survey gives an indication of whether it has generally become easier or harder for Danish borrowers to raise loans, and indications of whether changes in total lending are driven by banks’ supply or customer demand.
