The Birgit Grodal Award

Danmarks Nationalbank sponsors the Birgit Grodal Award, which is an award given to female economists who have made significant contributions to economic research in Europe.


In 2011, the European Economic Association instituted an award for female economists who have made significant contributions to economic research in Europe.

The award is named after Birgit Grodal, Professor at the University of Copenhagen, who sadly died in 2004 aged only 60. Birgit Grodal had an impressive international research career behind her.

Danmarks Nationalbank sponsors the award, which has so far been given to eight female researchers.
