Renovation of the building

Abstract icon The Danmarks Nationalbank building in Havnegade, Copenhagen, is due for a major and necessary renovation. The construction period is expected to be several years, and the vast majority of the employees will be moved to other premises throughout the period.

The building in Havnegade was designed by the Danish architect Arne Jacobsen and constructed in the period 1965-78. In 2009 the Heritage Agency of Denmark (now the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces) decided to list the building because of its architectural and cultural historical values. The renovation will  respect these values.

It is a large-scale renovation, which is deemed necessary by experts and which must consider the fact that the building is listed. Among other things, marble and glass facades are to be replaced.

Temporary domicile
Danmarks Nationalbank has entered into an agreement with ATP Ejendomme to rent the domicile building located at Langelinie Allé 47, 2100 København Ø. Most of Danmarks Nationalbank's employees move to the new address in September 2020, and it will be Danmarks Nationalbank's domicile for a number of years while the renovation of the headquarters is going on.
