International cooperation

Abstract icon Danmarks Nationalbank participates in international cooperation via a number of international forums. In these forums, Danmarks Nationalbank promotes its own and Denmark's interests, often in cooperation with relevant authorities. Some of the most important international forums for Danmarks Nationalbank are the European System of Central Banks (ESCB), the European Union (EU), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Bank for International Settlements (BIS).
  • The International Monetary Fund, IMF. Denmark's relations with the IMF are undertaken by Danmarks Nationalbank together with the Ministry of Finance. Denmark is represented in three of the IMF's decision-making bodies: the Board of Governors, the International Monetary and Financial Committee, IMFC, and the Executive Board.
  • The European System of Central Banks, ESCB. Although Denmark is not a euro area member state, Danmarks Nationalbank participates in key areas of European central bank cooperation within the ESCB on an equal footing with the central banks of other non-euro area member states. The ESCB comprises the European Central Bank, ECB, and the central banks of all EU member states.
  • The European Union, EU. Danmarks Nationalbank also contributes to the EU work in relation to economic and financial conditions through participation in EU committees on macroeconomic and financial conditions in the EU. The most important EU committee is the Economic and Financial Committee, EFC. Danmarks Nationalbank participates in the EFC together with the Ministry of Finance.
