Come visit us at Danmarks Nationalbank

We invite upper secondary school and business college students to visit Danmarks Nationalbank at Langelinie Allé in Copenhagen to attend a lecture by one of our economists. Teachers can find available dates and book a visit on this page.

Danmarks Nationalbank offers a lecture to upper secondary school students (STX, HF and HHX) who want to know more about Danmarks Nationalbank’s tasks and responsibilities, including monetary policy, and Danmarks Nationalbank’s role in society in general. Advance booking for lectures is required.

Learn more about:

  • Danmarks Nationalbank as an institution: a presentation of Danmarks Nationalbank’s organisation, the governing bodies of Danmarks Nationalbank and its independence of the Danish government.
  • Danmarks Nationalbank’s objective: What is Danmarks Nationalbank’s role in today’s Danish economy – a description of three main objectives: Stable prices/a stable exchange rate, secure payments, a stable financial system.
  • Danish monetary policy: Why do we pursue a fixed exchange rate policy – and what does that entail? How can interest rates be used, and how can they not be used?
  • Denmark and the euro: Is Danmarks Nationalbank represented in the European Central Bank (ECB), and what does the ECB actually do?

The visit at Danmarks Nationalbank can be supplemented by the teaching materials in the digital teaching universe, targeting students at all social science levels of upper secondary school. Games, videos and current cases spice up the teaching materials.

Practical information

A lecture is about 90 minutes and usually starts at 10:00. The teacher must provide photo ID on arrival, and the teacher is responsible for his or her students during the visit at Danmarks Nationalbank.

Please note that the visit takes place at Danmarks Nationalbank’s temporary domicile at Langelinie Allé 47, Copenhagen – not the building at Havnegade that is undergoing major restoration and renovation work.

How to book a visit and a lecture

Lectures must be booked online by the teacher of the class, using the calendar below. We recommend booking well in advance – dates are booked out quickly. Therefore, Danmarks Nationalbank reserves the right to pool small teams together.
