Join Money Week

For several years, Danmarks Nationalbank has been participating in Money Week – an educational initiative targeting students in grades 7-9. The objective of Money Week is to improve the financial literacy of young people. We will also be participating in the 2024 edition of Money Week.

You can start looking forward to this event! Money Week 2024 will take place from Monday 11 to Friday 15 March. During this week, guest lecturers from Danmarks Nationalbank, among other institutions, will try to improve the financial literacy of Danish 7th to 9th graders and teach them about the Danish economy.

Guest lecturers from Danmarks Nationalbank

In 2023, 16 guest lecturers from Danmarks Nationalbank toured schools across Denmark to teach students about economics. Danmarks Nationalbank’s team of guest lecturers consisted of 14 economists and two Governors. We will also be participating in the 2024 edition of Money Week.

Financial literacy – for young people

Danmarks Nationalbank has decided to participate in Money Week because it is essential that young people develop basic financial literacy – for the sake of their personal finances and the sake of the Danish economy. They are the consumers of the future. Therefore, Danmarks Nationalbank’s contribution to Money Week is to focus on economics.

Danmarks Nationalbank has special competence in analysis and communication about economics. We know that economics can be difficult to grasp, especially for young people. We would like to help make economics easier to understand, so that more people understand and become interested in economics.

Danmarks Nationalbank’s commitment to Money Week is a natural extension of the more than 100 lectures we give at Danish upper secondary schools and business colleges each year.

Digital teaching universe

In partnership with Alinea Publishers, Danmarks Nationalbank has developed a digital teaching universe dedicated to economics. Young people can find answers to questions such as ‘What is money?’, ‘How do you know whether the Danish economy is healthy?’ and ‘What does Danmarks Nationalbank actually do?’

This material has been developed for use during Money Week to help improve the financial literacy of young people, but it may be used in class all year.
