Denmark and abroad

Denmark and abroad is a collection of various statistics about Danish investments abroad and foreign investments in Denmark.

The statistics under Denmark and abroad relate to both transactions and holdings. Transactions are the value of investments made within a given period, while holdings are the total value of investments calculated at a given time. Transactions are recorded under the balance of payments financial account and holdings under the capital account. Both the financial account and the capital account of the balance of payments are divided into the following main items: direct investments, portfolio investments, financial derivatives, other investments (including loans and deposits) and reserve assets.

The items are used to compile Denmark’s international investment position (capital account), corporate investments in and out of Denmark (direct investments), securities trading with abroad (portfolio investments) and the composition of Danmarks Nationalbank’s foreign exchange reserve (international reserve assets and liquidity).

The statistics contain information about who makes investments in and out of Denmark as well as information about the type of investment.
