Denmark's foreign assets

The international investment position fell by kr. 66 billion in the 1st quarter

Denmark's international investment position (IIP) fell by kr. 66 billion to kr. 1,691 billion in the 1st quarter of 2023. This happened despite a surplus on the balance of payments' current items of kr. 69 billion, which in isolation increased Danish investors’ investments (net) in foreign assets. The IIP was pulled down by exchange rate adjustments, particularly a weakening of the dollar, which meant that Danish investors’ investments in foreign assets in dollars became less valuable. Developments on the stock markets also lead to a reduction in the IIP, as Danish investors' foreign shares rose less in value than foreign investors' Danish shares.

The IIP was kr. 1,691 billion in the 1st quarter 2023

Note: Denmark´s IIP is Danish investors assets abroad less foreign investors assets in Denmark. Find chart data in the Statbank.
