Record increase in pension wealth

Danes' pension wealth managed by pension companies increased by kr. 349 billion in the 2nd quarter of 2026. This is the largest absolute quarterly increase ever. The increase is primarily due to the insurance and pension sector achieving an investment return of 7.9 per cent in the same period, following a negative first quarter return. The return in the 2nd quarter was mainly driven by investments in foreign technology companies. Positive pension contributions net of payouts also added to the rising pension wealth, although to a far lesser extent than the return. The pension wealth amounted to kr. 4,883 billion at the end of the 2nd quarter of 2026.
