Increasing interest in equity funds
Households have purchased shares in Danish and foreign equity funds worth kr. 25.5 billion since 2024, and during the same period sold shares in bond funds worth kr. 14.6 billion. The trend of buying equity funds and selling bond funds gained momentum from May 2025. In addition to investments through funds, households also invest directly in individual securities, having sold kr. 8 billion in stocks and kr. 5 billion in bonds since 2024. Finally, households also invest in mixed funds, where they have purchased shares worth kr. 7.5 billion.

Households (employees and pensioners, etc.) accumulated net purchases - excluding dividend payments - of equity and bond funds. In cases of confidentiality regarding dividend payments, they are assumed to be zero. Danish funds are regulated according to the "Executive Order on Investment Associations, etc." (i.e., UCITS). Foreign equity and bond funds are classified based on CFI codes. The net purchases include both individual pension schemes in financial institutions and freely invested funds.
Households primarily own foreign stocks through Danish equity funds
Overall, households have invested kr. 570 billion in Danish and foreign investment funds. The Danish funds account for kr. 470 billion. While households' investments in foreign funds are largely directed towards foreign stocks, foreign stocks also make up a significant portion of their investments through Danish funds. Of the households' stock investments via Danish funds, which total kr. 267 billion, more than half is invested in American stocks. In comparison, Danish stocks account for 10 per cent. Conversely, Danish stocks represent a larger portion of the portfolio when households invest in individual stocks. Out of the total investments in stocks households have made directly at kr. 485 billion 66 per cent is invested in Danish stocks.
