"The government's proposal for a new housing taxation system includes positive elements. First and foremost, from 2021 there will once again be a link between housing taxes and house values, as was the case before the tax freeze was introduced in 2001. That will promote stability in the housing market and in the economy in general. At the same time, the valuation system will be improved so that it becomes fairer and more transparent. That is essential to the general public's confidence in the housing taxation system.
"Housing taxes should be of a certain size so that they contribute to dampening price fluctuations in the housing market. That will be the case with the government's proposal. We note that the proposal put forward for a transitional arrangement seems to be rather expensive and complex.
"It is important that uncertainty about housing taxes is eliminated. So we encourage the parties in the Danish parliament – the Folketing – to conclude a broad and lasting agreement on future housing taxes."
