The Eurosystem Repo Facility for Central Banks, EUREP, is a standing facility that gives Danmarks Nationalbank access to borrow euro liquidity from the Eurosystem against high-quality euro-denominated securities as collateral. The maximum amount that can be borrowed by Danmarks Nationalbank is €50 billion.
EUREP will serve as an additional liquidity backstop, further enhancing Danmarks Nationalbank’s access to euro liquidity, and thereby adding resilience to the foreign exchange reserve.
"We welcome that the ECB has broadened access to the EUREP to include more central banks. Gaining access to EUREP further strengthens our robust liquidity position and management of Danmarks Nationalbank’s foreign exchange reserves,” says Governor Signe Krogstrup.
On 14 February 2026 the Governing Council of the ECB decided to enhance the EUREP to make it more flexible and effective in supporting the smooth transmission of euro area monetary policy. The updated framework introduces a standing facility, in principle, for all central banks outside the euro area such as Danmarks Nationalbank to address euro liquidity shortages swiftly.
