Danmarks Nationalbank issues market announcements on behalf of the central government, including in connection with issuances of new government bonds and changes of benchmark series. The announcements are aimed at market participants such as Danish and foreign banks and investors wishing to stay up to date.

Central-government debt

The Government has issued a 10-year green bond under the EuGB framework

On 23 September 2025, the Government issued DKK 7 billion in European green bonds maturing on 15 November 2035.


The European green bond was issued as a twin bond to the DGB 2.25 per cent 2035 with a coupon of 2.25 per cent. The bond was issued with a greenium of 1.5 basis points. In total, DKK 7 billion nominal was issued. The issuance was conducted via syndication.

The proceeds from the green bonds will be used to refinance expenditures on sustainable land use, renewable energy and clean transportation. The issuance process and the composition of the investors can be seen in the attached press release.

The Kingdom of Denmark is the first sovereign to issue green bonds aligned with the EuGB framework. The issuance contributes to the green transition of Denmark and paves the way for a more transparent and robust green capital market.
