Economic Portrait of the Euro Area
The economic and financial structure of the euro area is compared with the USA. The euro-area economy is smaller than the USA's and it is less homogeneous. Judging by US experience, the differences between the countries in the euro area will not automatically be erased over time. Just below 50 per cent of Denmark's foreign trade is with the new currency area.
