Danmarks Nationalbank's Oversight of Payment and Securities Settlement Systems
Payment and securities settlement systems are key elements of the modern financial infrastructure. There has been greater focus in international fora on risks in this part of the financial infrastructure, and on the central banks' role in this context. During the last 10-15 years, a number of bodies for international cooperation, in particular the central banks of the 10 largest industrialised countries and Switzerland (the G-10 group of countries), have produced reports containing recommendations and standards within this area. The stronger focus is the result of such factors as the considerably higher value of transactions processed in the systems.
