Cyclically Adjusted Government Budget Balances
International organisations' methods for calculating cyclically adjusted government budget balances are described and compared. Although the methods are associated with certain drawbacks, they often provide a better indication of the tightness of fiscal policy than the non-cyclically adjusted government budget balance on its own.
