Status of the Basle Committee's New Capital-Adequacy Rules for Banks
In July 2002 the members of the Basle Committee reached agreement on a number of important issues related to the New Basle Capital Accord. The Committee subsequently confirmed its timetable for finalising the new Accord and for its implementation. The new Capital Accord is expected to be completed by the end of 2003, and the new capital-adequacy rules are expected to take effect at the end of 2006.
