Danish Government Borrowing and Debt 2007
The government debt has been reduced from approximately DKK 600 billion in 1997 to approximately DKK 250 billion in 2007 as a result of central-government surpluses for the last decade. Central-government debt is reduced from approximately DKK 115,000 per capita in 1997 to approximately DKK 45,000 per capita in 2007. Debt reduction has been particularly strong in the last three years, during which the government debt has been halved.
