Evolving business structures: Implications for firms, households and the labour market

The largest firms have grown increasingly important for the Danish economy in recent years. This paper examines how their expansion affects other firms, the labour market, and households. While wages are higher in the largest firms, the immediate spillover effects to other firms appear gradual and modest. Households benefit from the growth of top firms, as it enables higher consumption for unchanged levels of employment.
