The currency composition of foreign exchange reserves: A new database
In this paper, I present what is, to the best of my knowledge, the most comprehensive and detailed database on the currency composition of countries’ foreign exchange reserves, constructed entirely from publicly available sources. Covering the period from the introduction of the euro in 1999 to 2026, the database provides information on the reserve currency composition of 149 countries across 23 currencies.
