Danmarks Nationalbank has appointed Peter E. Storgaard the new head of the Financial Stability department. He will take up the position on 15 August 2021.

Peter E. Storgaard is 46 years old and an economist with a PhD in Economics from Aarhus University. He has been with Danmarks Nationalbank since 2001 and has been the head of Financial Institutions since 2015. Prior to this, he was responsible for preparing the bank's analyses and projections for Danish economy.

"I am very pleased that Peter has accepted the position. He has very strong professional competences, and he has spent 20 years working for Danmarks Nationalbank where he has gained in-depth financial experience and a broad knowledge of Danmarks Nationalbank's other core tasks," says Governor of Danmarks Nationalbank Lars Rohde.

"For many years, Peter has contributed to a trustful cooperation with the sector and internationally. Peter is also a very experienced and skilled leader. He is development-oriented with a strategic mindset and deeply committed to the continued development of the bank. I am very much looking forward to working with Peter in his new role," continues Governor of Danmarks Nationalbank Lars Rohde.

The Financial Stability department performs tasks in areas such as financial regulation, oversight and payment systems. This also includes overseeing the financial infrastructure and conducting stress tests of the systemically important Danish banks.

"A robust financial sector is a prerequisite for a healthy Danish economy. Danmarks Nationalbank plays an important societal role by supporting financial stability and efficient payment systems, an area where the terms and conditions are constantly changing in time with the technological development and the entry of new market players. I am therefore very much looking forward to continuing this work in cooperation with the skilled and dedicated employees of the bank and our key partners," says Peter E. Storgaard.

Peter E. Storgaard replaces Karsten Biltoft, who after more than 30 years at the bank will take up the position of CEO of the resolution authority Finansiel Stabilitet on 1 December 2021.
