The statistics present the key items of the consolidated MFI balance sheets. The key items are specified by sector, counterparty country, maturity and currency. The statistics also include a compilation of the money stock and figures for the sub-sectors banks and mortgage credit institutions.

In addition to banks and mortgage credit institutions the MFI sector also comprises other credit institutions, money-market funds and Danmarks Nationalbank.

The principles governing the contents and structure of the statistics are laid down in the ECB regulation concerning the consolidated balance sheet of the MFI sector.
