Card turnover 0.9 per cent lower than last year

Abstract icon In 2020, total Danish payment card turnover ended 0.9 per cent below the 2019 level. So, for the first time since the introduction of payment cards in 1983, Danes used their payment cards less than the previous year. Under normal circumstances, card turnover has historically risen by about 5 per cent annually, driven by general economic growth and a growing trend for card payments instead of cash payments.
