Worthless Danish banknotes
Older banknotes and 1000-krone banknotes have become worthless and can no longer be exchanged at Danmarks Nationalbank. Cash will still be needed in Denmark in the future. Denmark will therefore introduce new banknotes in 2028–2029. Going forward, there will only be one valid banknote series at a time.

Do you have worthless banknotes after 31 May 2026?
After 31 May 2026, banknotes that have become worthless can no longer be exchanged as a rule. In very special circumstances in an individual case, Danmarks Nationalbank may nevertheless choose to exchange the banknotes.
