Danmarks Nationalbank's expectations survey

Expectations for the future affect how the public spends, borrows and invests money now. Expectations therefore impact the overall development of the Danish economy. In Danmarks Nationalbank's expectations survey, we ask about the expectations for the economy.

A cross-section of the population is invited to participate in Danmarks Nationalbank's expectations survey, where we ask about expectations for developments in consumption, house prices and income. The expectations survey is intended to contribute to Danmarks Nationalbank's ability to prepare even better analyses of and forecasts for the Danish economy.

Invitation letter sent via Digital Post

You may receive an invitation letter to Danmarks Nationalbank's expectation survey via Digital Post from October 2024. The invitation letter is sent to 6,000 randomly selected people every month. Participation in the survey is voluntary.

The survey asks about your expectations for the future in the following topics:

  • Income
  • Inflation
  • Interest rates
  • Consumption
  • House prices
  • Employment.

The results of the survey are included as a supplement to other data used by Danmarks Nationalbank to prepare analyses of the Danish economy.

Inspiration from other central banks

Other central banks have increasingly asked the public about their expectations for future economic conditions since 2010. Expectations for the future can be seen as a supplement to data sources that describe what has already happened.
