Danmarks Nationalbank and approximately 30 Danish banks are participating in the new trans-European payment system for settlement of large, time-critical payments in euro, TARGET2. This system is used by banks and settlement systems in the EU member states to make payments to each other. TARGET2 is based on a shared technical infrastructure (the Single Shared Platform), while accounts and business transactions with the participating banks are still managed by the individual central banks.​
